There was a double celebration at the Judo Club recently thanks to Dyfed Powys Police. The first was when PC Richards presented a cheque of 500.00 to Bethan Whitefoot to help towards paying for a specially commissioned medical tricycle.

Bethan suffers from a rare condition which causes frequent joint dislocations and had prevented her from cycling with her sister Ffion who is a member of the judo club. Bethan's parents thanked the Police for such a generous donation which has helped to pay for the cycle which gives their daughter such pleasure and a certain amount of independence.

The second surprise from the Police was another cheque for 500.00 made out to the Judo Club so that it can continue providing first class training and facilities for the youngsters in the Carmarthen area.

Club coach Louise Beard said "We run the club to benefit youngsters who want to learn Judo in a safe and welcoming environment. We keep costs to users at a minimum, 1 per training session, and lend out Judo uniforms (Judo Gi's) for those who are starting. This is a welcome donation and will go to directly benefiting the users of the Club in Old Llangunnor Road."
