The youngsters were fighting for National Titles in the orange belt and below category; the competition was further divided by age, under 12 and 13 to 16 years.
Jac Davies, under 16, fighting in the under 38kg category, put up an excellent performance showing skills honed at the Judo Club in Old Llangunnor Road. He remained unbeaten during the day fighting in a well controlled manner returning to Carmarthen with the Welsh Title.
Owen Davies, under 12, was fighting in the under 34kg category and found the competition difficult. Despite this he fought well and tried hard returning to Carmarthen with a Silver medal.
Josh Richards, under 16, was fighting in his first tournament and found the experience of the whole day intimidating. Nevertheless he fought very well showing skills that belied his inexperience coming back home with the Welsh title and gold medal.
Jonathan Walters, under 12, fighting in the under 30kg category, put in a solid performance showing glimpses of the skill he has. He was happy to come back to Carmarthen with a Bronze medal.
Anthony Hughes, under 12, fighting in the under 38kg category. This was his first competition and it proved a difficult and frustrating day. The competition was fierce but he returned to Carmarthen with the gold and Welsh title.
Dylan Thomas, under 12, fighting in the under 30 kg category. This was a very frustrating day for Dylan with fights going the distance and having to be decided on Golden Scores (after the fight is finished the first person to score wins) which made everything much harder. Despite this he returned to the Club with a hard won Bronze.
The two men fighting in the adult competition were attending their first championships. Alex Hughes, under 81kg, had tough fights and after the first fought on with an injury to his ribs. He found the competition to be too good for him on this occasion but returned to Carmarthen with a well deserved Bronze medal.
Ben Richards, under 66kg, found the fighting very tough but to his credit he never gave in and found the whole experience enjoyable. He made the most of his opportunities and returned to Carmarthen with a Bronze medal.
