Recently, at Carmarthen Judo Club's dojo (training hall) in The Leisure Centre Johnstown, there were many young judo fighters taking part in the annual Club Championships. The competition was open to all the Club members who were holders of a Welsh Judo Association Licence.
The competition was well attended and found everybody ready to fight and do well on this special day. Each competitor was awarded an attendance medal with many Gold, Silver and Bronze medals awarded on the day. The medals were presented to the competitors by Louise Beard and Emyr ap Sion the club coaches.
There were many good competitors fighting for the medals and many showed excellent skills to win their bouts. The club was full of vocal support for the young participants who enjoyed the judo and had a wonderful day.
The competition was run by the Club Coaches with excellent support from Welsh Judo Association referees and time keepers.
The head coach, Louise Beard, said "This was a showpiece of local talent. Each person who took part showed the skills taught at the Club and made me very proud to watch them. This shows that the Olympic martial art is alive and well in the Carmarthen area."
