A Carmarthen Commonwealth medal winner and British Judo champion has helped his club to another medal - for their website.

Former Ysgol Bro Myrddin pupil Ceri Griffiths, 25 has helped Carmarthen Judo Club to a gold medal at the prestigious Golden Web Awards.

The website was created in September 2000, and averages 300 hits a month.

The site is currently following the exploits of Carmarthen's Emyr Ap Sion who is training at the spiritual heart of judo, The Kodokan in Tokyo, having secured a Churchill Travelling Fellowship.

Club secretary Geoff Griffiths said: "The website has been an outstanding success in providing information for prospective, old and new members.

"The small initial outlay has been repaid many times over in the service provided and new members attracted.

"At the club we are more than used to having our members win medals at local, national and international Judo Championships but it's a first for us to have our website honoured at the Golden Web Awards with the prestigious Gold Medal."
