Silver lining from Kidderminster challenge.

Six young men from Carmarthen Judo Club, Old Llangunnor Road, attended a mini mon competition in Kidderminster. The competition was open to orange belts and below, the competition was further sub-divided into 6th mon and below (yellow belt) and 7th to 9th mon (orange belts).

Yellow Belts

Jac Davies fought in the under 38kg category and put up a sterling performance losing in the final by the narrowest of margins to return with a well deserved silver medal.

Tom Williams also fought in the under 38kg category and showed some excellent skill losing to Jac in the semi final. He returned to Carmarthen with the bronze medal his performance demanded.

Chris Scourfield fought in the under 34kg weight category putting in an excellent performance losing just once in the semi final. Chris brought back a hard won bronze medal.

Orange Belts

Owen Davies fought in the under 34kg category which proved to be a very tough group and it is to his credit that he returned to Carmarthen with the bronze medal.

Gethin Jones also fought in the under 34 kg category and put up a very good performance returning to the Club with a silver medal.

Aron Jones fought in the under 38kg category and put up an excellent performance losing just one fight. He claimed the silver medal.

All these young men are to be congratulated on what was an excellent performance. They were watched by Club Coach, Louise Beard who said “These young men are enjoying this Olympic sport and are starting to put skills learnt at the Club into practice.”
