At the recently held Pembrokeshire Open Judo Championships a small team from Carmarthen attended and did well.

The small team consisted of seven junior fighters (under 16 years) and three senior fighters. The tournament was open to all throughout the country and it attracted many current national champions and medallists. The standard of competition was very high and Carmarthen Judo Club's team held their own in the face of stiff competition.

The Juniors were:
Aled BEYNON fighting in under 34kg, Bronze.
Greg COTTER, fighting in under 38kg, 5th. place.
Edward BENNETT fighting in under 38kg GOLD.
Indeg CRANE fighting in under 52kg category Silver.
Natasha JIWA WALJI fighting in plus 52 kg Bronze.
Gareth DAVIES fighting in plus 60kg GOLD.
Maxime CROS fighting in plus 60kg Bronze.

The Seniors were:
Emma JONES under 63kg category Silver.
Aron JONES under 73kg category Bronze.
Ben RICHARDS under 81kg category GOLD.

The three Carmarthen coaches who attended to support the team were very impressed with what they witnessed and everyone of the competitors were congratulated on a job well done.
