The team consisted of 5 girls and 7 boys and proved that judo is a sport where you can test yourselves against others and have a good time. The support that followed the team was fantastic with well wishers and families standing side by side shouting on the Carmarthen performances.
Sarah Davies fought in the under 12 under 44kg category and did very well getting a silver medal.
Rhiannon Davies , under 16years was fighting in the over 63kg category and did really well to come away with a bronze medal.
Sally Williams, under 16 years, fighting in the under 48kg category made the best of her opportunity returning to Carmarthen with a silver medal.
Catrin Davies, under 16, fighting in the under 57kg category was not happy with her performance on the day but having tried hard was rewarded with a bronze medal.
Kate Walters, under 16, fighting in the under 52kg category found the going was tough throughout the day, but, having put in a very solid performance was happy with a bronze medal.
Aron Jones, under 16 years, fought in the under 38kg category and put in a performance of note. He fought exceptionally well to get into the final and lost in the last 5 seconds of the competition. He came back with a thoroughly deserved silver.
Gethin Jones, under 16 years, fighting in the under 34kg category put in a sterling performance getting the bronze medal to bring home.
Jason Nulty, under 16 years, fought in the under 55kg category and landed up with a three way tie for the silver medal. It was decided to fight the three again to separate the competitors. Jason fought well to beat the other two and claimed the silver medal.
Gareth Davies, under 16 years, fighting in the under 46kg category tried his best all day and was finally rewarded with a bronze.
John Walters, under 12 years, fighting in the under 30kg category, fought very well throughout the day. In fact he was described as impressive narrowly missing out on the final. He was eventually pleased to return with a bronze.
Two other competitors in the under 12 category found themselves in a large group of experienced fighters and on this occasion did not return with medals. They were Tom Williams and Chris Scourfield.
